The Rhys Davies Short Story Conference

Date: 13. September to 15. September 2013

This September saw the first Rhys Davies Short Story Conference take place at Swansea University. The new flagship conference, organised by The Rhys Davies Trust in partnership with Literature Wales and Swansea University, brought short story writing to a national audience and was the first event of its kind in the UK. From the history of the short story form in Wales and its context in the wider international literary scene to the marketability of short story anthologies, this dedicated conference was targeted at readers, writers and academics alike.

The South Wales Literature initiative (SWLI) has been running since 2007, bringing together local authorities from South Wales to work on literature development across all of the valleys and beyond. The project is enabled by a grant from the Arts Council of Wales, which is matched by financial contributions from each participating local authority. Literature Wales has conceived, managed and driven the project since its inception in 2007.
